To improve your chances of being mentioned in ChatGPT, make your business easy to find, understand and verify. Start with relevant buyer questions, clear service and location pages, credible public information and search access. Check the answers over time. There is no guaranteed business recommendation or universal registration shortcut.
The short version
- Check unbranded questions before asking ChatGPT about your own business.
- Explain what you offer, who it suits and where you actually operate.
- Record a mention and a website citation as different results.
What would a customer actually type to find a business like mine?
If you ask “Tell me about [your business],” you have already supplied the name. That is useful for checking accuracy, but it does not show whether a new customer would discover you.
Start with a question that describes the purchase. A business owner might ask, “Which company can help our Dubai clinic improve its website and enquiry tracking?” A shopper might ask where to buy a particular product with delivery to Sharjah. A procurement manager may ask for providers with UAE support.
Choose questions you can connect to a real offer. “Best company in Dubai” is too vague to tell you much. Keep broad category questions, specific use cases and branded accuracy checks in separate groups.

How do I see what ChatGPT says about my business right now?
Read the whole response. Is it explaining how to choose a provider, naming businesses, linking to websites, or doing several of those things? Open the visible sources and check whether they actually support the statements.
An answer may cite a guide you wrote without recommending your company. It may name the company without linking to your website. It may also give incorrect information. These are different findings and need different actions.
Record the exact question, date, visible platform or mode, language, location stated in the question and source URLs. Use a fresh conversation so your earlier messages do not keep steering the answer toward your business.
Where should my business details live so ChatGPT can read them?
Create a useful page for each core service. Explain what it includes, what it does not include, who it suits, how delivery works and what the buyer should do next.
For example, a hypothetical Dubai accounting firm should explain the accounting services it genuinely provides, relevant company types, its working process and how to enquire. A vague “business excellence” page gives the customer less to work with.
Keep location details honest. Serving clients in Abu Dhabi is different from having an Abu Dhabi office. Put the actual address, service coverage and contact options in clear text. Keep the facts consistent on appropriate external business profiles.
Which questions decide whether I make the shortlist?
Use your sales conversations as a starting point. Buyers often need to understand cost factors, timescales, suitability, implementation and what happens after they sign.
A helpful article on choosing a provider should give criteria the reader can use, including situations where a different option may fit better. A repeated “we are the leading company” sentence is a claim, not a decision tool.
Add evidence your team can stand behind: a documented project, an original process explanation, a genuine customer comment used with permission, or a product specification. Do not invent a case study to make the page feel authoritative.

Is ChatGPT blocked from my website?
Ask your developer whether relevant public pages are accessible to search crawlers and whether the hosting or firewall blocks legitimate requests. A browser loading successfully does not prove a crawler has the same access.
OpenAI's crawler documentation distinguishes OAI-SearchBot, which supports ChatGPT search, from GPTBot, which concerns potential training use. Those settings are independent. Agree the policy for each purpose rather than assuming every AI bot must be allowed.
Do not remove your website's protections to chase visibility. Investigate a specific access problem and use the platform's documented verification and access guidance.
Does ChatGPT need other websites to mention me?
Correct profiles that contain an old address or service description. Ask legitimate partners to describe the actual relationship accurately. Contribute useful information where your industry's buyers already look for it.
Independent mentions can help a buyer check your claims, but no directory, publication or backlink guarantees a ChatGPT recommendation. Buying a pile of unrelated mentions is a poor substitute for useful evidence.
Inspect the sources from your question checks before deciding where to spend effort. A relevant trade association page may be a better information source for a specialist supplier than a general lifestyle list.
How often should I check again, and did it bring enquiries?
Make the page changes first, then repeat comparable questions on a sensible review cycle. Keep unsuccessful checks in the record. One attractive screenshot does not establish consistent discovery.
Ask new enquiries how they found the company, and compare that information with identifiable AI referrals in analytics. Keep the original customer wording. “I used Google” and “ChatGPT gave me a shortlist” are different answers.

Frequently asked questions
Can I register my business to guarantee ChatGPT recommendations?
There is no general registration step that guarantees an organic business recommendation. Improve the information buyers and search tools can access, then check real questions.
Does asking ChatGPT to recommend me improve my ranking?
A response influenced by your own prompt is not evidence that other users will discover the business. Use unbranded buyer questions in fresh conversations for discovery checks.
Do I have to allow GPTBot to appear in ChatGPT search?
OpenAI documents GPTBot and OAI-SearchBot as independent settings for different purposes. Review search access and training permissions separately.
