Useful UAE paid ads benchmarks distinguish market research, individual account results and planning examples. Set your own CPA or cost-per-attended-patient ceiling first, then compare the same channel, audience and conversion definition. A low CPM or high platform ROAS does not by itself prove profitability.
What counts as a meaningful benchmark?
An ad benchmark should tell you who was measured, when, on which channel and what counted as a result. A figure without those details may be a planning assumption, a single case study or an average from another country. Each can be useful if labelled correctly.
The references below combine a published AdGrow clinic example, a Shopify dataset covering a wider market and worked planning arithmetic. These are different evidence types and should remain separate in your report.
| Reference | Figure | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| AdGrow’s published Dubai clinic campaign example | 1,791 leads at AED 48.38 per lead over 90 days | An account-specific Meta result, not a UAE clinic average or a patient acquisition cost |
| Littledata’s October 2026 Shopify dataset | 1.4% median purchase-session conversion rate | 426 qualifying Shopify stores; not a UAE-only sample |
| Worked budget model below | AED 80 acquisition ceiling | A hypothetical business target, not an observed advertising cost |
The clinic example is documented in our cost per lead guide. It separates AdGrow-managed campaign results from wider account results. The Littledata figure comes from its published conversion-rate methodology. Read the original sources before comparing either with your business.
Which metrics should an ecommerce store compare?
Read CPM and click-through rate as delivery and creative diagnostics. Use cost per purchase to examine acquisition efficiency, then reconcile that with fulfilled revenue and contribution after refunds. A sale that never ships cannot fund the next campaign.
Track new-customer acquisition separately from total orders when you can identify it reliably. Retargeting and repeat buyers can improve blended ROAS without showing whether the store is reaching enough new customers. The two questions need separate views.
Calculate your acquisition ceiling
Consider this hypothetical first-order model, using values excluding VAT: AED 250 net sales, AED 90 product cost and AED 30 combined delivery, packaging and payment costs. That leaves AED 130 contribution before advertising. If the business wants AED 50 left after acquisition, the advertising ceiling is AED 80.
On that revenue basis, the minimum ROAS for the stated contribution target is 250 ÷ 80 = 3.125x. This is not a claim that UAE stores should achieve 3.125x. It shows how a target follows from economics. Include expected return costs and a provision for agency and production fees before using it as a full profit target.
For more on those distinctions, read what a good ecommerce ROAS means. Avoid mixing VAT-inclusive platform revenue with a margin model calculated excluding VAT.
Translate clinic CPL into an attendance target
Suppose, as a separate planning example, a campaign produces 100 enquiries for AED 5,000. The CPL is AED 50. If 30 book and 20 attend, cost per booked consultation is approximately AED 167 and cost per attended consultation is AED 250.
Now compare another campaign with an AED 70 CPL but a stronger attendance rate. It may deliver patients more efficiently despite the higher lead cost. Put the stages in the same report so reception and marketing can see where improvement is needed.
Why do comparisons go wrong?
Common causes are different attribution windows, branded versus non-branded search, promotions, treatment mix, returning-customer share and conversion definitions. A WhatsApp button click is not the same result as a completed conversation. A lead is not a treatment booking.
Seasonal changes also matter. Compare similar periods and record offer changes, stock shortages and campaign interruptions. A month with a major sale should not become the permanent baseline for full-price trading.
A benchmark review you can run each month
- Write the exact metric definition, date range and revenue basis.
- Compare current performance with your own previous comparable period.
- Split material differences by channel, product or treatment.
- Check tracking, cancellations and fulfilment before diagnosing advertising.
- Choose one action and name the business measure that should change.
If you need help making that report consistent, our conversion tracking and attribution service starts with the events and business outcomes being measured. Useful benchmarks follow a reliable definition.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good CPA for a UAE store?
A CPA below your business’s acquisition ceiling, calculated from contribution and the profit you want to retain. There is no useful universal AED target for every product.
Are these UAE market averages?
No. The clinic figure is one published account example, the Shopify dataset is not UAE-only, and the calculations are hypothetical planning models.
Should a clinic optimise for cost per lead?
Monitor CPL, but also measure qualified enquiries, bookings and attendance. A lower lead cost can produce a higher attended-patient cost.
