A page must be indexed and eligible for a search snippet to be considered as a supporting link in Google AI Overviews or AI Mode. Google does not require special AI markup. Improve the page's usefulness, access, internal links and accurate business details, then check visibility without assuming inclusion is guaranteed.
The short version
- Fix eligibility and page quality before looking for AI-specific additions.
- Put important facts in text, supported by relevant images and evidence.
- Treat an AI Overview screenshot as one observation, not a permanent position.
What does Google actually require to use my page in an AI Overview?
Google's AI features guidance provides the clearest starting point. A supporting page needs to be indexed and eligible to appear with a snippet in Search. There is no separate technical admission test for AI Overviews or AI Mode.
This distinction matters when someone offers a new “AI schema package.” Useful structured data can describe the content you already have, but an extra label does not turn a weak page into a useful source.
Start by checking your important page in Search Console. If it is excluded, inspect the actual reason. A page blocked from crawling, a noindex directive and a page Google has chosen not to index are different problems.
What kind of question should my page answer?
Consider a UAE buyer asking, “What should I check before choosing an ecommerce website agency?” They need ownership, scope, integrations, support, costs and delivery responsibilities explained.
A guide that covers those points with examples gives the reader a way to decide. A long introduction about the future of digital transformation does not.
Answer the main question early, then support it with details. Add a table where it makes comparison easier. Use headings that describe the next question a reader is likely to ask. There is no magic paragraph length that guarantees selection.

Is a short answer at the top enough?
A short answer is a good start, but a serious buyer still needs context. Explain when a recommendation applies and when it does not.
For a UAE product comparison, discuss use, materials, compatibility, current specifications and seller policies where relevant. For a professional service, explain what the scope includes and which information a buyer needs before requesting a quote.
Use original evidence where available. State the source of a specification or platform rule. If the example is hypothetical, label it. Do not add unsupported numbers simply because they make a table look more convincing.
How do I turn an AI Overview mention into an enquiry?
Search visitors may arrive at the article before they know your business. Give them a natural next step related to the question.
An article about checking a clinic website should link to the clinic's actual service or booking information. A general AI search guide should link to the relevant Google AI Overviews service, rather than making every paragraph an agency pitch.
Internal links also help people find useful pages from your existing website. Link from relevant live pages, use descriptive wording and avoid a long block of every keyword you want to target.
Does my UAE location information matter?
Google's guidance includes keeping Business Profile and Merchant Center information up to date where those products apply. That supports the customer's ability to understand a real business or product.
For a local service, check the genuine branch address, hours, telephone number and available service. For a store, check the advertised price, availability, product details and UAE delivery information.
Do not create a location page for every emirate unless it adds real information. A single useful delivery page can explain coverage better than seven nearly identical articles.
How are AI Overviews different from AI Mode?
An AI Overview appears within a search results experience when Google chooses to show one. AI Mode supports more conversational research and follow-up questions. The answers and supporting pages can differ.
You should therefore record which experience you checked. If no AI Overview appears for a question, mark it as not shown in that check. Do not treat an ordinary search result as proof of an AI citation.
You also cannot infer current UAE exposure from one overseas browser session. Language, query wording and location context should be recorded with the observation.
| Check | What to record | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| AI Overview appears | Exact query, date and visible supporting sources | A permanent position |
| Page is indexed | URL and inspection result | Guaranteed AI selection |
| Clicks change | Landing pages, query demand and conversions | AI is the sole cause |
| Your brand is named | Wording and factual accuracy | The reader visited or bought |
What can I actually measure?
Google's documentation says AI features are included in the overall Web performance reporting in Search Console. Do not turn every rise or fall in organic clicks into an AI-specific result.
Review the relevant pages and queries, then compare clicks, impressions, conversions and business quality. Search demand, competition and changes to your own page can also affect the numbers.
If clicks fall, use the diagnostic approach in our guide to AI Overviews and traffic changes. The cause needs investigation before the content strategy changes.
What should I do first?
Check access and indexation first. Improve the page's answer and supporting detail next. Correct factual information, add relevant internal links and make the mobile reading experience comfortable.
Then repeat your search observations and review the resulting enquiries. AdGrow's free AI visibility audit can help identify which of those steps matters most for your existing website.
If you want to know whether Google is already using your pages in its AI answers, that is the first thing we check. See how we work on Google AI Overviews, or request the free audit.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need special schema for Google AI Overviews?
Google says there is no special schema.org markup required for its AI features. Use appropriate structured data accurately and keep it consistent with visible content.
Will ranking first guarantee an AI Overview citation?
No. A high organic position and an AI citation are different observations. Eligibility and good content do not guarantee selection.
Should I add the current year to every guide?
Only when the year helps readers understand the subject. Review changing information and use honest update dates, rather than changing titles to imply new research.
