Facebook Ads for Clinics in Dubai: What 35 Months of Data Shows

Facebook ads work for Dubai clinics, and the data says they are roughly as cheap as Instagram. Across 35 months and more than AED 1 million of Meta spend on a Dubai clinic account AdGrow manages, Facebook produced 39% of all patient leads at AED 62.85 each, against AED 60.52 on Instagram. Switching Facebook off to save four percent removes two fifths of your lead supply.

The short version

  • Facebook delivered 4,037 patient leads at AED 62.85. Instagram delivered 6,286 at AED 60.52. The gap is inside normal monthly variation.
  • The single cheapest placement in the entire account was Facebook Reels overlay at AED 52.56 per lead.
  • Audience Network had the highest click-through rate in the account and nearly the worst cost per lead. Click-through rate is not the goal.
  • Instant Form beats sending clinic traffic to WhatsApp, because a WhatsApp conversation never becomes a measurable lead.

Do Facebook ads still work for clinics in Dubai?

Yes. The assumption that aesthetics is an Instagram-only category is one of the most expensive beliefs in this market, and the account history does not support it.

On the Dubai clinic account we have the longest continuous history with, Facebook carried AED 253,723 of spend and returned 4,037 patient leads at AED 62.85 each. Instagram carried AED 380,414 and returned 6,286 leads at AED 60.52. Instagram is cheaper, but by four percent, which is smaller than the swing between two ordinary months.

The important number is not the cost. It is the share. Facebook produced 39% of every lead that account has ever generated. A clinic that turns Facebook off is not trimming waste. It is removing nearly two fifths of its supply to save four percent, and a smaller pool of available impressions tightens the auction, which pushes cost per lead up rather than down.

Which Facebook placements produce the cheapest clinic leads?

Facebook Reels overlay, by a clear margin. It produced 1,008 leads at AED 52.56, the cheapest lead source anywhere in the account across all 35 months.

That placement is worth understanding because it breaks the rule most people apply. Its click-through rate was 0.27%, the second lowest in the whole account. Judged on engagement it looks like the worst inventory available. Judged on what a clinic actually pays for, it was the best.

Placement Leads Cost per lead Verdict
Facebook Reels overlay 1,008 AED 52.56 Cheapest in the account. Low click-through, high intent.
Facebook Search 14 AED 54.09 Tiny volume, good cost. Leave it on, do not plan around it.
Facebook Reels 514 AED 59.04 Solid. Cheap inventory, real volume.
Facebook Feed 2,203 AED 67.45 The volume engine. More expensive per impression, still worth it.
Facebook Stories 152 AED 72.74 Weakest of the Facebook set, but not a reason to exclude it.
Marketplace 22 AED 106.76 Turn it off. Wrong context for a medical enquiry.
Audience Network 27 AED 101.77 Turn it off. Highest click-through in the account, almost the worst cost.

The practical setting is narrow. Run Facebook Feed, Facebook Reels and Facebook Reels overlay. Keep Audience Network and Marketplace switched off. Those two placements are where clinic budgets quietly go missing.

Why does Audience Network look good and perform badly?

Because it measures the wrong thing. Audience Network recorded a click-through rate of 3.74%, three times higher than anything else in the account, and produced leads at AED 101.77, near the bottom of the table.

Those are accidental taps inside third party apps and games. Somebody closing a banner registers as a click. The person never intended to look at a clinic, and the cost per lead reflects it. If you take one habit from this account, make it this one: never judge a clinic lead campaign on click-through rate. Judge it on cost per lead, and later on cost per booked consultation.

Should clinic ads send people to WhatsApp or an Instant Form?

Instant Form, in almost every case, and the reason is measurement rather than preference.

A WhatsApp conversation never becomes a lead object inside Meta. That means it cannot be counted, it cannot be attributed to a specific ad, and it cannot be marked qualified in your CRM and sent back to Meta as an optimisation signal. Every dirham spent on conversation campaigns is a dirham that makes none of your future campaigns smarter.

WhatsApp still matters enormously for a Dubai clinic. It is where most patients actually convert. The distinction is that WhatsApp belongs in the follow-up, not in the ad objective. Capture the lead in a form, then move the conversation to WhatsApp within minutes.

What campaign settings did the cheapest clinic campaigns use?

The pattern is consistent enough to copy. Nine of the fifteen cheapest campaigns in the account used conversion leads optimisation rather than standard lead generation, including all three of the top performers at AED 21.18, AED 21.43 and AED 23.34.

Conversion leads optimisation tells Meta to find people who later get marked as qualified in your CRM, not people who are simply likely to tap submit. It costs more per impression because the platform is filtering harder, and it usually still wins on cost per lead because the leads convert. It only works if somebody at the clinic keeps lead statuses honest. If everything gets marked qualified, or nothing does, the platform is optimising toward noise.

The other consistent settings were one campaign per treatment rather than per audience, a single ad set with real budget behind it, two creatives left for Meta to allocate between, and the price written on the image.

A mistake we made: we once judged a clinic placement report on click-through rate and cut the placement that was producing the cheapest leads in the account, because its engagement numbers looked embarrassing next to everything else. Cost per lead rose the following month and it took us two weeks to work out why. Now we sort placement reports by cost per lead only, and we do not look at the click-through column until the cost question is settled.

If your clinic account is running Instagram only, that is the first thing worth checking. Book a growth call and we will look at your placement report and tell you what it is costing you. Or see how we run Meta ads for clinics.

Frequently asked questions

Neither, and running both is better than choosing. On a Dubai clinic account we manage, Instagram produced leads at AED 60.52 and Facebook at AED 62.85 across 35 months. Facebook supplied 39% of total lead volume, so excluding it removes a large share of supply for a very small cost saving.

Between AED 21 and AED 202 depending on the treatment, with a blended average of AED 62.72 across every treatment and every month on the account we have the longest history with. Facial and skin treatments sit at the cheap end, clear aligners and dermal filler at the expensive end.

Facebook Feed, Facebook Reels and Facebook Reels overlay. Reels overlay was the cheapest lead source in the entire account at AED 52.56. Switch off Audience Network and Marketplace, both of which produced expensive leads despite strong surface engagement.

Lead forms for the ad, WhatsApp for the follow-up. A WhatsApp conversation cannot be counted as a lead inside Meta, cannot be attributed to a specific ad, and cannot be sent back as a qualification signal, so conversation campaigns build no optimisation data for anything you run later.

Not reliably. Audience Network recorded the highest click-through rate in the account at 3.74% and nearly the worst cost per lead at AED 101.77, because the clicks were accidental taps in third party apps. Facebook Reels overlay had one of the lowest click-through rates and the cheapest leads.
