Instagram or Facebook Ads for a Dubai Clinic: Which Is Cheaper?

Instagram produces slightly cheaper clinic leads than Facebook, but not enough to justify choosing. Across 35 months on a Dubai clinic account AdGrow manages, Instagram delivered 6,286 leads at AED 60.52 and Facebook delivered 4,037 at AED 62.85. Instagram Stories carried the most volume. Facebook Reels overlay produced the single cheapest lead in the account at AED 52.56.

The short version

  • The platform gap is four percent. The placement gap inside each platform is closer to forty percent, which is where the real decision is.
  • Instagram Stories is the volume placement for clinics. Facebook Reels overlay is the efficiency placement.
  • Running both platforms roughly doubles available inventory, which lowers frequency and protects cost per lead as you scale.
  • Lifetime frequency on that account reached 9.82, which is a hidden cost most clinics never look at.

Which platform is cheaper for clinic leads, Instagram or Facebook?

Instagram, by four percent. That is the honest answer and it is smaller than most clinic owners expect.

Platform Spend Leads Cost per lead Share of leads
Instagram AED 380,414 6,286 AED 60.52 61%
Facebook AED 253,723 4,037 AED 62.85 39%

Four percent is inside the ordinary month to month variation of this account. It is not a signal. Treating it as one, and excluding Facebook to chase it, costs a clinic 39% of its lead supply in exchange for a saving that will disappear in the noise of a single ordinary month.

Where does the real difference show up?

Inside the placements, not between the platforms. Once you rank every placement by cost per lead, the spread is far wider than the platform comparison suggests.

Placement Leads Cost per lead What it is good for
Facebook Reels overlay 1,008 AED 52.56 Cheapest inventory in the account
Facebook Search 14 AED 54.09 Negligible volume, good cost
Facebook Reels 514 AED 59.04 Cheap and reasonably scalable
Instagram Reels 2,071 AED 59.40 Volume and efficiency together
Instream video 105 AED 60.41 Small but respectable
Instagram Stories 4,189 AED 61.05 The volume engine. Most leads in the account.
Instagram Explore 26 AED 63.48 Marginal
Facebook Feed 2,203 AED 67.45 Expensive impressions, still profitable
Facebook Stories 152 AED 72.74 Weakest of the placements worth keeping
Audience Network 27 AED 101.77 Exclude
Marketplace 22 AED 106.76 Exclude

The distance between the best placement and the worst placement worth keeping is around 38%. The distance between the two platforms is 4%. That tells you where to spend your attention.

Why does running both platforms lower your costs?

Because of frequency, and frequency is the number almost nobody checks.

Lifetime frequency on that account reached 9.82. Individual campaigns hit 7.74 inside a single month. Dubai is a geographically small market, so the pool of women aged 25 to 54 interested in aesthetic treatments is finite. Show the same person the same ad eight or nine times and response decays while cost climbs.

Adding Facebook back roughly doubles the inventory available at the same budget, which naturally spreads delivery across more people and pulls frequency down. That is a structural fix, not an optimisation. It works without touching the creative, the audience or the bid.

Two other fixes belong in the same conversation. Exclude people who already submitted your form, which has no downside at all and is free. And rotate creative, which resets perceived frequency even against the same person.

Should a clinic split budget between the two platforms?

No. Let Meta decide, and give it enough budget to decide well.

Splitting a clinic budget into a Facebook ad set and an Instagram ad set is one of the most common structural mistakes we see. Meta needs roughly 50 conversions in a rolling seven day window per ad set before delivery stabilises. At a target of AED 45 per lead that is about AED 2,250 a week, or roughly AED 9,650 a month, for one ad set to clear that bar reliably.

Split a AED 12,000 monthly budget across two platform ad sets and neither reaches it. Both sit in learning, both run at inflated cost, and you have paid twice for the privilege. One ad set with both platforms enabled, carrying the whole budget, is the version that works.

Does creative need to differ between Facebook and Instagram?

Less than you would think. On that account the same static image ran across both platforms for five consecutive flights, producing 1,207 leads at a blended AED 44.28 with no meaningful fatigue.

What mattered far more than the platform was what was on the image. The winning format was a still photograph with the treatment name and the price written large. Not video, not carousel, not a produced brand film. Across 31 months of that history no video ever ran, so anyone claiming video beats static for clinics in this market is arguing from a different account, not this one.

A mistake we made: we built separate Facebook and Instagram ad sets on a clinic account so we could report platform performance cleanly to the client. The report was beautiful and the results got worse, because neither ad set reached the conversion volume it needed to exit learning. We rebuilt it as one ad set with both platforms enabled and pulled the platform split out of the reporting breakdown instead. Same information, without paying for it twice.

Frequently asked questions

Marginally. On a Dubai clinic account we manage, Instagram produced leads at AED 60.52 and Facebook at AED 62.85 across 35 months. The four percent difference is smaller than normal monthly variation, so running both consistently beats choosing one.

Facebook Reels overlay, at AED 52.56 across 1,008 leads. Instagram Reels and Facebook Reels follow at around AED 59. Instagram Stories carried the most volume at AED 61.05. Audience Network and Marketplace were the two worst and should be excluded.

No. Meta needs about 50 conversions a week per ad set before delivery stabilises, which is roughly AED 9,650 a month at a AED 45 target. Splitting a clinic budget across two platform ad sets usually leaves both below that threshold and both running at inflated cost.

Around three to four within a month. Dubai is a small market, so frequency climbs quickly. On the account we have the longest history with, lifetime frequency reached 9.82. The three fixes are excluding past form submitters, widening placements, and rotating creative.

Usually not. On that account one static image ran across both platforms for five consecutive flights and produced 1,207 leads at AED 44.28 blended. What the image said mattered more than where it appeared, and the winning format was a still photograph with the treatment and the price shown clearly.
