AED 20,000 a month of ad spend in the UAE should return roughly AED 60,000 to AED 100,000 in tracked revenue, which is a 3x to 5x ROAS. Expect 7,000 to 19,000 clicks depending on the platform mix, and 150 to 400 orders at a typical UAE average order value of AED 250 to AED 400. If you are under 2x after 90 days on that budget, the problem is the offer or the tracking, not the money.
The short version
- AED 60,000 to AED 100,000 in tracked revenue is the target range.
- 150 to 400 orders a month at a UAE average order value of AED 250 to AED 400.
- Split it roughly evenly: Google for intent, Meta for demand, with AED 2,000 to AED 4,000 held back for testing.
- Month one is a cost. Judge the budget at day 90, not week six.
AED 20,000 a month is the line where paid ads stop being an experiment and start being a channel.
It is enough budget for the algorithms to learn, enough for real testing, and enough that mistakes cost you something. So what should you honestly expect back? Here are the numbers we work with on live UAE accounts.
What AED 20,000 buys you in reach
Costs move a lot by category, but as a working range for the UAE:
| Channel | Typical UAE cost per click | Clicks on AED 20,000 | What it is good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta (Facebook and Instagram) | AED 1.50 to AED 4 | 5,000 to 13,000 | Creating demand from people who were not looking |
| Google Search | AED 3 to AED 12 | 1,600 to 6,000 | Catching demand that already exists |
| Google Shopping and PMax | AED 1.50 to AED 5 | 4,000 to 13,000 | Product-led traffic with a price already attached |
More clicks is not the goal. A Search click at AED 10 from someone typing your exact product name is worth more than ten Meta clicks at AED 1. We have seen accounts double their click volume and halve their revenue.
What AED 20,000 should return
At a 3x to 5x return, AED 20,000 in spend should produce AED 60,000 to AED 100,000 in tracked revenue. At a UAE average order value of AED 250 to AED 400, that is somewhere between 150 and 400 orders a month.
Now the part most people skip.
ROAS is not profit. At a 50 percent product margin, a 3x return means AED 60,000 revenue, AED 30,000 in product cost, AED 20,000 in ads, and around AED 10,000 left before shipping, payment fees or paying yourself. At a 25 percent margin, 3x loses money.
Work out your break-even ROAS before you judge anything. Divide 1 by your gross margin. A 40 percent margin means break-even at 2.5x. Above that is profit. Below it, you are paying Meta to move stock.
How we would split AED 20,000
If you already sell and have some history, roughly this.
| Where | Amount | Why |
|---|---|---|
| AED 8,000 to AED 10,000 | Brand Search first, because it is cheap and it stops competitors taking customers who were already looking for you. Then Shopping or Performance Max on your best sellers. | |
| Meta | AED 8,000 to AED 10,000 | Mostly cold acquisition with a small, tight retargeting layer. Retargeting a small audience burns out fast and flatters your numbers. |
| Testing | AED 2,000 to AED 4,000 | New creative, new angles, new audiences. Without a reserved testing pot, the account decays quietly as your winners fatigue. |
Starting from zero with no data at all? Weight Google Shopping first. It converts sooner because you are catching people already searching. Meta needs more spend and more patience to find its footing. The full comparison is in Meta ads versus Google ads for a UAE store, and if you are running Shopping through Performance Max, read when PMax works and when it does not before you launch it.

What this looks like on a real account
We run a UAE craft supplies store on Google at roughly AED 18,000 to AED 20,000 a month. That account has held a steady 4x to 5x for over two years, which is exactly the outcome we would call good at this budget.
The most recent 90 day window: AED 213,502 in conversion value on AED 39,372 in spend. 5.1x, 573 conversions, in dirhams.

Across all channels that store did AED 478,539 in sales in one quarter, up 13 percent, with a 51.6 percent returning customer rate. That is the whole store, not paid only.

We include that second screenshot deliberately. The returning customer rate is carrying a lot of that revenue, and no ad budget creates it on its own. If you are spending AED 20,000 a month and nobody comes back, ads are not your problem.
The honest shape of the first 90 days
Budget alone does not produce results in week one.
Month one is mostly rebuilding. Tracking gets fixed, campaigns get restructured, the algorithm starts learning. Expect a return below where it will settle. This month is a cost.
Month two is where structure starts paying. Winning products and audiences become obvious. This is usually where the numbers turn.
Month three is for scaling decisions. You know your break-even, you know what works, and you push budget into it on purpose.
Judging paid ads at week six tells you almost nothing. Judging at day 90 tells you nearly everything.
Spend less if you have no product market fit. If organic and word of mouth are producing nothing, ads will show more people something they do not want, faster.
Spend less if your site converts badly. Under 1 percent, every extra dirham leaks out of the same hole. Fixing the site is cheaper than out-spending it.
Spend more if you are already profitable and constrained. If you are at 5x and turning away demand, AED 20,000 is holding you back rather than protecting you.

Frequently asked questions
Is AED 20,000 a month enough for e-commerce ads in the UAE?
Comfortably. It funds both Meta and Google properly, keeps a testing budget alive, and gives the algorithms enough conversion volume to optimise. Below roughly AED 10,000 a month you start having to pick one platform and accept slower learning.
How many sales should AED 20,000 in ad spend produce?
At a 3x to 5x return and a UAE average order value of AED 250 to AED 400, expect roughly 150 to 400 orders a month. The width of that range is mostly your average order value and margin, not your ad skill.
Should I split the budget between Meta and Google or pick one?
At AED 20,000 you can run both. Split it roughly evenly, with Google carrying brand Search and Shopping and Meta carrying cold acquisition. At AED 8,000 we would pick one and run it properly rather than starve two.
What ROAS should I expect in the first month?
Lower than your eventual number, often well under 2x while tracking is being repaired and campaigns are learning. Treat month one as a setup cost. If month three is still under 2x, the problem is the offer, the pricing or the site, not the budget.
Do UAE ad costs rise during Ramadan and the Dubai Shopping Festival?
Yes. Cost per thousand impressions climbs noticeably during Ramadan, Eid and DSF because everyone bids at once. Conversion rates usually rise too, so the higher cost is often worth paying. Plan a bigger budget for those windows rather than being surprised by them.
